Wei Hou, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Research Department of Huaqiao University, Professor, at School of Civil Engineering, Master's tutor, Xiamen high-level talents, Quanzhou high-level entrepreneurial and innovative talents. He is a postdoctoral fellow of Zhejiang University (co-supervisor: academician Xu Shilong) and a visiting scholar of Hong Kong Polytechnic University (co-supervisor: academician Teng Jinguang). He is also the director of China Steel Structure Association, director of Steel-Concrete Combined Structure Branch of China Steel Structure Association, vice president of Fujian Civil Engineering and Construction Industry Association, member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), member of International Structural Concrete Association (fib), member of New Materials and New Structures Committee of China Construction Society, member of Dam Concrete and Rock Fracture Mechanics Committee of China Dam Engineering Society, member of Engineering Consultation Committee of China Construction Society. He is a member of the Committee of New Materials and New Structures of the Chinese Institute of Construction, a member of the Committee of Fracture Mechanics of Dam Concrete and Rock of the Chinese Society of Dam Engineering, a member of the Engineering Diagnosis and Operation and Maintenance Branch of the Chinese Institute of Construction.
His main research interests include disaster prevention and mitigation of innovative marine engineering structures and their durability, ultra-high toughness concrete and its structural applications, comprehensive utilization of solid waste (stone powder) resources, high-performance composite structures, and structural seismic strengthening. He has been in charge of scientific research projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Special Research Fund for Doctoral Subjects in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and the Natural Science Foundation of Fujian Province. Published in Journal of Structural Engineering-ASCE, Composites: PART B-ENG, Composite Structures, Construction and Building Materials, Journal of Civil Engineering, Journal of Building Structures, etc. He has published more than 20 academic papers in SCI and EI journals and 8 national patents.
