Abstract:The re-constructing of collective memory is the most important thing for cultural identity, cultural pride and cultural continuity. And the authenticity of collective memory is based on specific premises, narrative structure and content. The contents of spatial narrative could be felt by people, and help people to re-think the personal memory, the collective memory, the cultural memory and the social memory. Through analysing of the historic remains in Cangshan-Erhai area, composing the realms of memory in different levels and combining with traditional festivals, it wants to reconstruct the spatial narrative of Nanzhao-Dali collective memory in three levels – sites, lines and area. It is the way to preserve traditional culture during the period of globalization and modernization. It is also the way to enhance local cultural identity and cultural pride.
