Conference proceedings will appear in IFAC-PapersOnline, indexed in WoS and Scopus. 

The 2018 IFAC Conference on Advances in Proportional-Integral-Derivative Control will be held Wednesday through Friday, May 9-11, 2018. The IFAC PID18 conference is a landmark in Systems and Control domain and a leading recognized event attended by both industry practitioners, corporate research members and leading academics worldwide. The conference follows the inaugural meeting in Terassa, Spain (2000) and the second meeting in Brescia, Italy (2012). 

Holiday Inn Gent Expo offers a top level meeting venue, providing a restaurant and a bar, a fitness centre and free wired and wireless internet throughout the hotel. Bicycle rental services are available. At 100 m from Holiday Inn Gent Expo you'll find a tram stop which offers access to the historical centre of Ghent every 10 minutes and Ghent Sint-Pieters Station. The hotel is easily accessible by car via E40, E17 and A17 Motorways. Parking at a reduced rate is possible or free parking at IKEA.

During the conference three challenging competitions are featured. 

1. The PID 2018 conference will feature a benchmark process challenge. The results will be presented in several special session during the conference, on the last day 11th May 2018 (check please for details the technical program of the conference). Full information is available here BENCHMARK 

2. A PID tuning competition open to all IFAC participants will be organized by the company Yazzoom. Contestants will have to find the optimal parameters for a specific process, using PID tuning simulator training software Simcet. The award will consist of a prize and a diploma. 

3. The PID 2018 conference will encourage (under)graduate students to participate in a challenging cobot competition. For this, the students need to program 2 universal robots (UR5 cobots) to execute the task of a bartender (see movie below). The competition will be organized by Cosmin Copot (University of Antwerp) in collaboration with sponsoring members/companies. The award will be presented at the 'Closing Reception' on Friday 11 May 2018.
